How Do I Care For My Steiff Animals?

You will find care instructions on the back of the information tag of your Steiff animal.  Follow these instructions carefully.

Mohair:

1. Using a small hand held vacuum, cover the nozzle with cheese cloth and lightly vacuum entire piece.  This will rid your piece of loose fur and surface dust.
2. Place your animal in a bag with cornmeal and shake it around.  Remove animal and brush it with a stiff brush to remove the pieces.
3. With warm water, wring out a clean wash cloth.  Carefully go over the mohair with the damp cloth and be sure to rinse out the cloth often.
4. If your piece is very dirty, you may use a mild detergent in your water, but remember that the detergent must be rinsed out completely.  This can be a bit more difficult and would be better left to an expert teddy bear cleaner.
5. After cleaning with water, briskly towel dry your animal and let it air-dry.
6. If you wish to groom your animal, use a soft brush or a metal pet grooming comb to comb out the fur.

Soft Plush:

These animals can go in the washing machine.  If you tend to be the cautious type, you may wish to place the animal in a “delicates” bag when placing in your washing machine.  Wash on cold and air dry.

Sonja Hartmann Kidz 'n' Cats Play Doll Collection

The Madame Alexander Doll Company is pleased to announce that it will be the exclusive U.S. Distributor for a new line of play dolls--The Kidz 'n' Cats Collection--created by renowned German doll sculptor Sonja Hartmann.

The collaboration between Madame Alexander and Sonja Hartmann forms a union between two of the doll industry's pioneers.

More than 30 years ago, Hartmann began her doll-making career by creating a cloth doll for her daughter.

As Hartmann's dolls became popular in Berlin, her creations progressed from cloth to clay, porcelain, resin and vinyl.

In 2000 Hartmann founded Heart and Soul, a manufacturing and marketing firm for internationally recognized doll artists and the home of the Kidz 'n' Cats Collections.

About the 2010 Kidz 'n' Cats Collection
The Collection features 12 18" tall vinyl dolls, nine girls and three boys, and nine beautifully crafted outfits.

Each doll has real eyelashes, lifelike glass eyes and a nine-jointed body-- neck, shoulders, elbows, hips and knees--for posing and unlimited play possibilities.

The dolls' faces have life-like features and each doll is wearing its own unique, contemporary outfit.

The Collection will be available in June 2010, and eDolls is accepting preorders for all dolls and accessories in the Collection.
